The Watcher

KIRO reports that “the note is similar to a ransom note sent last week to the family of missing hiker Patti Krieger... The two notes have the same grammatical errors, but demand a different amount of money.”

Patti, 65, vanished on Oct. 2, 2010 while hiking on Sauk Mountain near Rockport, Wash. She was with a group of people, however, Patti and her dog headed down a different trail from the rest. Patti's dog Bear was found almost a month later near mile marker four on Sauk Mountain Road, but Patti's whereabouts remain unknown.

KIRO showed the email pertaining to Sky to Patti's son, Alan Patterson, who said “There's a lot of similarities in this email that there were in the ones that were sent to us.”

He added, “It's the most cowardly thing I think I've ever seen. Cowardly and disgusting. And preying on a family's misery.”

Anyone with information regarding the Patti Krieger case is urged to call the Lead Det. Kay Walker with the Skagit County Sheriff's Department at 360-419-7785.

Sky's mother, Julia Biryukova told police that Sky, 2, vanished on Nov. 6, 2011, after she ran out of gas and left him sleeping alone in her unlocked vehicle. She claims to have walked to a gas station with her 4-year-old daughter Maile Metalwala, and when the two returned about an hour later, Sky was nowhere to be found.

Police announced at a news conference Thursday that Biryukova's car was not out of gas and likely could have been driven about 50 more miles on what was in the tank.
